Biography
Dr. Eric Burgon grew up in Santa Cruz, California. He began his career at the University of California, San Francisco where he was awarded a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). While a student at UCSF, he was active in national and local dental organizations and served as the UCSF School of Dentistry Student Body President. He was also involved in research looking at the long-term effects of nerve damage following third molar surgery.
Following dental school, Dr Burgon moved to North Carolina to continue his training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his residency, he attended the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) in 2012. Dr Burgon then went on to complete a General Surgery internship in 2014. He served as Chief Resident his final year and was awarded a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He gained wide scope training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial trauma and temporomandibular joint disorders.
Dr Burgon was also involved in research during his time in Chapel Hill. He published several articles during his residency and was awarded the Oral Abstract Presentation Award at the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons National Conference in 2013. Board-certified and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association, and American Dental Association, he is also a member of the North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Personal Interests
Dr. Burgon and his wife Brooke fell in love with North Carolina during Eric’s training program. They now have two sons and are happy to call Asheville home to their family. They are avid Tar Heel fans and enjoy camping, hiking, cycling, good food, and spending time with their kids and dog outdoors.
